This
list has been put together to give you some insight in to the facilities
available in the City and the various districts towns and villages
covered by our Estate Agency department. We try to keep this up to date.
If you come across any inaccuracies or omissions we would be delighted

ABERDEEN CITY, the “Granite City”, is a marvellous
combination of Old and New with something for everyone.
Culturally it boasts an Art Gallery, museums, a Satrosphere, an
Arts Centre and a beautiful Edwardian theatre which attracts a wide
range of prominent productions, and a musical hall frequented by well
known performers and orchestras. A range of municipal leisure activities is
available including golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts, bowling
greens, and there is a wide range of shops, both national department
stores, and locally based, more individual retail outlets. The City’s
Beach Leisure Centre provides fun for all age ranges with a large night
club, multiscreen cinema, ten pin bowling and choice of restaurants.
There is a pride in appearance evident throughout the City
manifest in the quality of architectural design and in the City's many
rose and tree lined streets. The City forms an excellent base for access
to beautiful scenery on Deeside and Donside and provides a central base
for both work and leisure with easy access to further afield. |

ABOYNE
is a popular village
in the heart of Royal Deeside approx. 30 miles from Aberdeen.
It has a good range of amenities with a number of shops catering
for everyday needs, as well
as a Post Office, Primary and Secondary schools, a community education
centre and swimming pool. There
is much to appeal to those interested in outdoor activities with
fishing, hillwalking, mountain biking, ski-ing and an 18 hole Golf
Course all on offer. |

ALFORD is a peaceful town lying in the Vale of Alford to the
North of the River Don and is favoured with a good range of local shops,
a small Post Office and makes a splendid base for exploring the
surrounding Donside country which is host to a Castle Trail. There is a
swimming pool, an 18 hole golf course, a dry ski slope, Tennis Courts
and Bowling Green, primary and secondary schooling and other attractions
include the Railway and Transport Museum and Haughton House Country
Park. Aberdeen City is approximately 25 miles drive away. |

ARBROATH
situated on the east coast, slightly to the north of Dundee, is a
coastal town with a good range of shopping and other amenities and is
conveniently placed for a number of well renowned golf courses including
the Scottish Open courses. The town is on the main Aberdeen to Edinburgh
railway line and good roadways provide an easy passage both North and
South. |

AUCHENBLAE
is a village located approx. 12 miles south of the town of
Stonehaven. |
|
BALLATER
enjoys a splendid location on the edge of the Highlands.
Many view it is an ideal retirement or holiday village and it is
easy to understand why it is so well frequented by tourists.
It is located close to Balmoral Castle and is well serviced by an
excellent range of hotels and local shops.
Schooling is provided at primary level and there is a splendid
18-hole golf course. The
village is approximately 40 miles to the West of Aberdeen on the main
Deeside road which affords easy access to all parts of Deeside with the
ski slopes less than an hours' drive away;

BALMEDIE
situated approx eight miles from the City, is a coastal village renowned
for its sandy beaches with impressive sand dunes, and a range of village
facilities including a small post office, village shop, primary school
and community centre. A
by-pass ensures the minimum of
village traffic whilst providing easy access to the City. |

BANCHORY
is
a favourite with many people due to its picturesque location on the
banks of the River Dee. The
town, which is a pleasant half hours drive from the City, has expanded
considerably in recent years and the resultant increased facilities
include both primary and secondary schools, a well equipped Sports
Centre, with swimming pool and an established 18 hole Golf Course and a
newer course at Inchmarlo which has a Driving Range open to the general
public and which enjoys a picturesque aspect.
In addition to a large supermarket there is a range of quality
shops and eating facilities located in the town.

|
CULTS
& BIELDSIDE are
highly desirable suburbs situated on the Western Outskirts of the City,
in the Lower Deeside valley both recognised for their attractive
environment and upmarket housing; Country Walks and a golf course can be
found close at hand and the area is served by high quality local
amenities including Shops and schooling both in Bieldside and Cults.
Superior eating and drinking venues can be found in the vicinity
and there are two local Churches. A
regular bus service provides access to the City which is only a short
distance away.

BLACKBURN
A compact but developing community just past Bucksburn approx 8 miles
from Aberdeen with local primary school, general store, post office,
small hotel and recreational areas.
A by-pass has recently been completed which has eased traffic
flow within the village as well as providing speedier access to the
City. |

BRAEMAR
is
a peaceful village situated on Royal Deeside.
There are a range of village shops, excellent local hotels with
superior restaurants and an 18 hole Golf Course.
Situated close to the Glenshee Ski Centre and a central location
for hillwalkers. |
|
BRIDGE
OF DON & DANESTONE Situated just north of the City comprising a
range of residential developments of varying styles and designs but with
some commercial development on the verges this area is well served by
modern local schools and shopping facilities with several excellent
superstores. The area is convenient for Aberdeen's Exhibition Centre and
for the Beach leisure facilities. Other
local amenities include banking and medical facilities.
Local facilities are well supplemented by the City's facilities,
which are readily accessible by car or by bus the area enjoying the
benefit of a number of bus routes. There is a good range of moderately
priced housing surrounded by plenty of open spaces with children's play
areas – an excellent place to bring up a family. |

BUCKIE
situated on the Buchan coast midway between Cullen and Fochabers, this
is a good-sized fish market town. Water
sports are on hand and the town has a swimming pool as well as a
community centre. In addition there are 2 local golf courses.
Good shopping and hotel facilities are available.
Educational facilities are available at both primary and
secondary levels. |

BUCKSBURN
Situated mid way between Aberdeen City and Dyce where Aberdeen Airport
and an industrial estate is situated, Bucksburn is conveniently located
for easy access to the City and to all parts to the north.
There is a good range of local shops, banks and leisure
facilities with a modern swimming pool and it has it's own Primary and
Secondary Schooling. There are bus routes to the city and nearby is the
new Craibstone 18 hole golf course.

COVE
Situated just South of the City enjoying first class communications to
the City and the South and particularly well suited for those working in
the business centres at Portlethen, Tullos and Altens.
The old village of Cove was a traditional fishing village and
whilst it has expanded in recent years it retains its atmosphere and
community spirit; Local facilities include local pub, shops, a Bank at
Tullos and infant and Primary schools and all amenities available in the
City are only ten minutes drive away and are readily accessed by bus. |

CRUDEN
BAY Historically a
small fishing village situated approx. 25 miles north of Aberdeen.
There is an 18 hole championship golf course excellent local
hotels, a superb beach along with a range of further local amenities in
this most scenic coastal village. Peterhead, some 8 miles to the north,
offers more extensive shopping facilities. |

DRUMOAK
A
small village situated approx. 7 miles from Aberdeen just past
Peterculter. There are the
usual small village amenities including a pub and church. |
|
DUNECHT
–
situated approx. 14 miles west of Aberdeen is a small village boasting a
Post Office and village shop, Primary School, public house and village
garage. |
|
DYCE
A
quiet but well established village, Dyce offers a wide range of
amenities including a good range of educational facilities with both
primary and secondary schools near by.
Close at hand is a large Superstore, local shopping, Aberdeen
Airport and there are regular local bus and rail services which provide
easy access to and from the City Centre. |
|
ELLON
situated
approx. 15 miles north of Aberdeen on the banks of the River Ythan is an
ideal place for a home away from the city. The town has a good selection
of shops with many small, individual outlets. It has several excellent
hotels and is well served by educational and leisure facilities and has
it's own golf course. |
|
ELRICK,
SKENE is located on the westerly perimeter of Westhill and close by
scenic Loch Skene, where a variety of species of birdlike is to be seen.
Bordering open countryside it also benefits from the amenities
available in Westhill whilst locally there is a public house, local shop
and petrol station/garage. |
|
FETTERANGUS
is
a country village located approximately 10 miles west of Peterhead and
close to Mintlaw. There is
a local primary school and local shopping facilities and village garage. |
|
GARLOGIE
is a country village situated within easy commuting distance of Aberdeen
and close to facilities in the town of Westhill which include a range of
shops, swimming pool and Primary and Secondary schools.
Boasting popular ‘Garlogie Inn’ Restaurant, well known in the
area for its fine food. |
|
HATTON
OF FINTRAY
is a small rural hamlet that has its own primary school and a village
pub. Being only five
minutes drive from Blackburn and Newmachar, it is an ideal location for
commuting to both the City and Aberdeen Airport. |
|
HUNTLY
Situated just over halfway between Aberdeen and Elgin this is
essentially a farming town which has seen expansion in recent years.
There is a good range of local shops and hotels with tourist
features including the Falconry Centre and 18 hole Golf Course. |
|
INVERBERVIE is situated on the east coast some 25 miles south of
Aberdeen. There is easy access to the beach and a good range of
shopping, educational and general facilities including a Health Centre
and Leisure Centre. There
is an Infant school in the village along with a Village Hall and Post
Office. Regular bus
services run through the village where there is also a garage.

|
INVERURIE
A bustling market town, approx. 15 miles from Aberdeen at the Heart of
Gordon District, surrounded by pleasant countryside with a range of
gardens and country parks to visit in the vicinity.
The town centre boasts a wealth of amenities including a
comprehensive range of shops, a library, community centre and Primary
and Secondary schools. At Thainstone, there is an active agricultural forum
with markets appealing to the wider public.
For the sporting minded bowling, tennis, golf and fishing are all
on offer, and there are a number of local walks with local monuments to
view. The town has a useful
rail link to Aberdeen.

KEITH
is situated on the main road to Elgin approximately 10 miles to the
north of Huntly within the heart of distillery country with beautiful
countryside on its doorstep, The town has a full range of local
amenities including schooling. |
|
KEMNAY
a charming village at the foot of the Hill of Bennachie with an
identity of its own; facilities include 18 hole golf course, park,
shops, community facilities and primary and secondary schools.
Convenient also for the City, Dyce Airport and Inverurie's
facilities. |
|
KINGSWELLS
is situated on the outskirts of the City between the City and the suburb
of Westhill, close to Dyce where Aberdeen's airport is based.
The expanding village boasts new facilities designed to serve its
increasing population including purpose built Shopping Centre and a
Community Centre and new Primary School.
The original village has its own Church, a filling station and
lounge bar with eating facilities and the area is well placed for access
to the City, Bucksburn, and Dyce areas. |

KINTORE
A former Royal Burgh comprising a mixture of traditional and newer
buildings about 12 miles from Aberdeen and 3 miles from Inverurie. Close
to the River Don with pleasant outlooks over the surrounding countryside
it has a recently extended eighteen-hole golf course and other amenities
include shops, banking facilities, a Church and hotels. |

LAURENCEKIRK
is situated inland from Inverbervie and is now bypassed by the A90. It
has a number of local shops and primary and secondary schooling and is
in the heart of the Mearns countryside renowned for it’s farming.
Aberdeen is approximately 25 minutes drive up the A90. |
|
LUMSDEN
is a quiet country village located on the A944 between Alford and Huntly.
Usual village amenities include Church, local shops and hotel as
well as a local primary school.
|
|
MACDUFF
Approximately 50 miles north of Aberdeen primarily a fishing village
with a good range of local shops and hotels and providing a good choice
of recreational sports including the local golf course and squash club.
The village has its own Maritime Museum and it is not unusual to
see Dolphins from the surrounding cliffsides.
The town of Banff with its further excellent amenities is within
easy reach. |
|
MILLTIMBER
is
a desirable residential area situated approximately 6 miles from
Aberdeen City Centre. There are many amenities close at hand, not only in
Milltimber but also in nearby Peterculter and Cults.
Milltimber is the home of Aberdeen Petroleum Club and its many
facilities including a new 9-hole golf course. There is also an Equestrian Centre for all riding
enthusiasts and the disused railway line is always a popular walk.
The local hotel provides good food and accommodation.
Milltimber Primary School and Cults Academy are within easy reach
and the City can be easily reached by car or regular bus services. |
|
MONTROSE
is a seaside town on the east coast of Scotland midway between Aberdeen
and Dundee with a full range of local facilities including primary and
secondary schooling and an excellent 18-hole golf course. |
|
MONYMUSK
An idyllic village located about 20 miles from
Aberdeen in the heart of rural Donside with a range of village
facilities including Primary School, church, post office and village
shop and popular lounge bar with restaurant.
|
|
NEWBURGH
situated close by "Forvie Sands" Bird Sanctuary, this coastal
village is situated approximately 12 miles from the City.
Water sports are also on hand as is a golf course, which has
recently, been extended to 18 holes with new facilities.
Other Local amenities include a primary school, shops and hotels.

|
NEWMACHAR This is a pretty, peaceful little village set in
beautiful countryside to the north west of Aberdeen lying within easy
commuting distance of the thriving City Centre of Aberdeen and Dyce
railway station, the Airport and Heliport are also conveniently close
by. There are ample leisure
facilities in Dyce and two outstanding 18-hole golf courses at Newmachar. |

NEWTONHILL
Situated to the South and less than Ten miles from the City, this is a
traditional coastal village with harbour and excellent views over the
bay. The village amenities
include a nursery and primary school. tennis courts, a football pitch, a
children’s playground and a bowling green and local shops. Major
superstores are available close by in Portlethen and Newtonhill is also
conveniently placed for amenities on offer within nearby Stonehaven.

OLDMELDRUM
is a small market town approximately 15 miles from the City on the main
Aberdeen - Turriff Road. Local
amenities include shopping and hotels.
There is a primary school and 18-hole golf course.
The town is within easy reach of Inverurie and a convenient
commuting distance from Aberdeen. |
|
PETERCULTER
is
a popular suburb on the Western outskirts of Aberdeen, yet is just a
step away from the open countryside.
There is a good range of local shops including post office and
banks. Peterculter has
recently expanded and now boasts a new 18-hole golf course, library,
medical centre, sports centre along with community centre, hotel,
restaurants and primary school.

PETERHEAD
is the major white fish port in Europe and is some 35 miles north of
Aberdeen. A good-sized
town, it is well served by local shops and hotels with educational
facilities at both primary and secondary level and also has a community
centre with swimming pool. A
variety of water sports and activities is available at the town’s
Marina and there is also an 18-hole links golf course.
Their
football team has recently gained admission to the Scottish League. |

PITMEDDEN
A rural village situated midway between Ellon and Oldmeldrum, and
approx. 16 miles distant from Aberdeen. In addition to local shops and
primary school the village is popular with visitors to National Trust
for Scotland Pitmedden Gardens. |
|
POTTERTON
The
village is approximately 7 miles north of Aberdeen and convenient for
Bridge of Don, and Dyce. Facilities
include a village shop, Post Office and local pub.
|
|
SAUCHEN
is
a small hamlet situated in the heart of the countryside, midway between
Westhill and Alford and a few miles off the main A944.
Aberdeen City is approximately 18 miles distant.
|
|
ST.
CYRUS
is a quiet coastal village situated approx. 30 miles south of Aberdeen
and has a national nature reserve well worth visiting for its diversity
of wild flowers. The village has a Post Office/General Store, further shops
and a garage. The local
village and church hall boast a thriving pensioners club and there are
regular bus services running through the village.
There is a Primary School in the village and free transport is
available to secondary schools. |

STONEHAVEN
Around fifteen miles to the south of the city with road and rail
links and enjoying a picturesque coastal outlook, this traditional
seaside holiday town was formerly a fishing port.
The town boasts a number of historical features including nearby
Dunnottar Castle, an impressive ruined twelfth century fortress featured
in the 1990 ‘Mel Gibson’ film “Hamlet”.
The town has a good range of shops, primary and secondary
schools, a Local museum, its own Golf Course, indoor and outdoor
swimming pools, tennis courts and a bowling green and a railway station. |
|
TARLAND
enjoys a beautiful scenic location with panoramic views over Deeside and
to the hills beyond. The
village is approximately 30 miles to the West of Aberdeen, has local
shops, primary school and also a 9-hole golf course.
Various other outdoor pursuits are readily at hand. |
|
TORPHINS
is a quiet village located approximately 20 miles away from Aberdeen and
is becoming increasingly popular as a residential base for City
commuters. In addition to
educational facilities at primary level, there is a good selection of
local shops, with a Post Office, and a hotel. The village boasts its own
9 hole Golf Course and also has Tennis Courts near the local park.
The village makes a good base for exploring the surrounding local
countryside and is well placed for accessing the ski resorts. |

TURRIFF
situated approximately 35 miles north of Aberdeen City, is an ideal
place for a home away from the main city surrounded by countryside and
within easy travelling distance of Aberdeen, Dyce and the northern
centres of Peterhead and Fraserburgh. The town has a good selection of
shops with many small, individual outlets. It also has a number of
hotels and is well served by educational and leisure facilities and has
its own golf course. |

WESTHILL
– this garden suburb approx. 7 miles from the City Centre has
grown over the last few years and has now become a self sufficient
satellite town with its own Community Centre, shopping facilities and
Primary and Secondary Schools. It also boasts a Leisure Centre with swimming
pool and an 18 hole Golf Course.
It is well placed for access to the city by road or for roads to
Cults and Dyce and other western areas. |
